For the Lord is God, and He created the heavens and earth
and put everything in place.
He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos.
“I am the Lord,” he says, “and there is no other.
I publicly proclaim bold promises.
I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner.
I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found.
I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right
~Isaiah 45:18-19

I affectionately love to call my heavenly father “the God of the impossible”, simply because every time He’s given my husband and I a glimpse of His will, His purposes, His plans for our family, our initial reaction has been something like “that’s impossible…. there’s no way we can do that!” His response never ceases to amaze me.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, “with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
~Matthew 19:26

He always answers with a resounding statement: I don’t make mistakes. You see, saints, the Lord is eager to show us just how awesome He is. All we have to do is let Him, by being obedient. When the Lord calls you to do His work, you literally need to forget about what you think you know, and embrace everything about who He is. He is not limited to our thinking; in fact, I have found He speaks directly to our hearts – not our minds. It’s up to us to renew our minds to follow His lead. You may wonder how you would know it’s God who is calling you. It’s very simple actually. Once you give Him your WHOLE heart, He places His word in you and His word is alive! His Holy Spirit at work in you bears witness to the fact that you are now a child of God, and He starts to reveal Himself to you if you just allow Him to, and tune into what His Spirit is saying.

For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
~Romans 8:16

In this day and age, everybody seems to knows everything. Thanks to Google, Wikipedia and the rest of the mainstream internet search tools out there, you can learn about anything in any language. If you still want to formalize your knowledge, you can always go to school. There are universities everywhere – including online. You can be in the Serengeti and get a degree from a university in Texas. With access to all this knowledge and education, anybody and everybody literally thinks they know everything.

Unfortunately, this seems to have moved into the spiritual side. With so much “knowledge” out, followers of Christ feel like they can know everything there is to know about our heavenly Father. We try to rationalize His plans based on our thinking. Although knowledge can be helpful for sure, when you are a follower of Christ we need to be careful not to limit God with all this knowledge. If anything, the more we know the more we should realize how very little we really do know.

The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astonished at His rebuke.
He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm.
By His Spirit He adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways,
and how small a whisper we hear of Him!
But the thunder of His power who can understand?”
~Job 26:11-14

People, understand this: His word, the Bible, is the foundation for our faith, the beginning of our understanding. It should help us to start to understand just how great He is, and how wondrous His ways are. In it we only begin to discover who He is, what He loves, who He holds dear, what He has done, and what He wants to do in us and through us. The same one true God from the Bible is still working today. He calls each and every one of us to follow Him. Those of us who chose to answer His call are usually in for a big surprise. Once He starts to reveal His will for us, it is usually something that undoubtedly requires His divine intervention, something that seems impossible to us. Whether it’s laying hands on a lame beggar on the streets or starting an academy for underprivileged children…if He asks you to do it, follow His lead! To God be the glory!

My husband and I always like to confirm with our pastor, our mentors and our friends who walk intimately with the Lord to make sure that what we are hearing is aligned with God’s word and His ways. With His wonderful sense of humor, every time we get confirmation we end up finding out that what He is trying to do is even more impossible that we had originally thought! We’ve learned this one thing for sure: we serve a mighty, awesome God and with Him, nothing is impossible! He is faithful, and He will surely do what He says He will do … all we have to do is believe that He is who He says He is, and that He can do what He has purposed to do through us. Don’t let anyone try to talk you out of doing what He asks. He is the God of the impossible – with Him, all things are possible.
